All the ones I found while shopping for a replacement pan were steel.

What transmission is it?
Okay thanks. It's the 5 speed automatic. I'm pretty sure it's steel now and besides like you said, your 2000 and 2002 were steel. I doubt they would switch the material of something so insignificant as the pan and then switch back the next year.

If you bent it enough to leak you might have moved the filter and pickup.
Pans are cheap. Get a new one.

Trans pan on my 00 was steel. Did the same thing. punched a fist size hole in it. Don't try to weld it, you may end up warping it, unless you have a very skilled welder.

depending on the size of the hole, I'd bet that most if not all of the fluid that's not in the torque converter came out. That's good, since you're removing the pan anyway.

It's a very small hole you can't even see. I only knew it was leaking because of the fluid coming out of course. But visually inspecting it, can't see anything at all. It looks scratched, not bent.

Yes there is a local welder in my area that is highly recommended. You honestly can't see the hole from the inside, from the outside it just looks as if it's scratched. It's a very small hole.

Why are you messing with a $30 to $40 part?

Contacted dealer and the pan was $400. The gasket itself was $50. Makes no sense in the world as to why it's so expensive. I could just order another for a lot less but I need this as soon as possible.

Yeah...wonder how many of these parts 'fell off the truck.' Shrinkage at dealers or warehouses.
