i read that the green oil is put in from 2008-> ...so in that case your tranny have to been updated...(not very common unless it have had shifting issues)

cheers/H
Some 2007 cars had it. My late (RIP) late-07 Avant was updated and expecting LG8. Those bottles that never made it into the avant are going in my sedan now

At the dealer, in the service dept, they entered my VIN & brought up the theat drivetrain section. From that, they brought up the fluid part number G 060162 A2. I correlated that to LG8.
Did you ever get life back on that lap? =D
post the logs...i'm an Audi concerned man....don't want any bad happen to it... =D =P

I should add my experience with my 2009 Sedan. I did the service this weekend using LifeGuard8 from CTSC. About $200 for a case of 12. I also used a new OE filter and gasket.

I used a bunch of tools and got the carport real messy with ATF. The old plastic oil catch pan that I used was warped and leaked the ATF everywhere. I could have finished the job with 9 Qts, so I have 3 full bottles and a partial left.

I tried a modified procedure detaching the oil cooler return line and dumping some of that off after I reinstalled the filter and pan. I had previously done this on my old Volvo to completely flush the fluid. I got about an extra quart and a half cleaned out from the radiator and piping. Not sure if the car really liked this procedure since it felt like it was having trouble cranking on one of the cycles. I decided that I got enough old ATF out and then I just hooked the tranny cooler line back up (bottom one), filled the pan again, and started the warm-up procedure to get the fill right. I tried to use the Torque app to read the transmission temperature, but it kept giving me a temperature that was very close to the coolant temp. SO... I just took my infrared thermometer and shot it at the pan and waited until it got to 30º C. This actually took a good 5-10 minutes and the app was reading 200º F. (Thermometer on pan is how the tech in the ZF sourced YouTube video did it and I trust they know their stuff)

I then filled it (using a modified garden sprayer that I bought for $5 at Wallymart) until a thin stream was coming out at 30º C and reinstalled the fill plug. ZF video states to torque the plug back in while the car is at idle. I tried that and burned the crap out of my pinky by touching it to the exhaust. So, I left it closed, but untorqued until the car cooled down. Pro-tip, nitrile gloves are nice to keep you clean, but if near hot metal, put your mechanics gloves over them.

Things to keep in mind if you want to save time:
  • Drain plug is M6 Hex
  • Fill is M17 Hex
  • You will need a T27 Torx bit for the pan screws, they are not torqued hard, so 1/4" tools work fine and you should not use 3/8" for risk of breaking a screw on installation. I personally used a 1/4" ratchet to break them free and then used my electric screwdriver to get them out easy and save my wrists.
  • You will need to remove at least 3 bolts from the subframe cross member to pivot it out of the way or else the tranny pan won't move - 16 mm socket.
  • You will need to jack the car up as high as possible while level. I only had the wheels off the ground a few inches and it was very tight in there and I am fairly svelte. If you have a lot of experience with beer or food, jack the car up higher! **Smartphones make great leveling tools
  • Have a good liquid measurement tool. This will take a lot of the guess work out.
  • Have a good fluid pump and test it out well before attempting.
  • Have an infrared thermometer or make sure your VAG-COM will read the right temperature before even attempting.
  • Make sure the filter o-ring comes out when you pull the filter. I had to use an o-ring pick and flashlight to fish mine out. DO NOT shove the filter back in without checking that the old one came out!
  • Paper towels and rags.... lots of them.
  • Have a back up plan

Good luck and Audi on!

EDIT: BTW, car drives like a dream now with all 3 diffs and the tranny fluid changed. I never really noticed hard shifts before, but I do notice now that shifts are nearly imperceptible

I am finally getting to the trans fluid & filter change out.
However, I am still unsettled about which fluid, LG6 or 8, is in my trans.
I went to the local dealership to have it correlated to the VIN. They sent me to the parts dept, who logged onto a computer & got me to lg8. Since then, I've been advised that they may have just used a parts system that will only bring them to the latest available fluid, not the one that's actually in the car. Which dealership computer system should I get them to look up my correct fluid on?
I've pulled up my vcds scan, & it says my trans software code of 000002. However, there seems to be unclear info on what the TSB updated software code is.
I presently have 6qts of lg8, which if not correct for me, I can easily return or sell.
So, I just want to verify, exact, which oil I should use.
My trans is shifting just fine, & I want to keep it that way.

It's my understanding that since LG6+ is no longer available, I should use the LG8 fluid.
