Adaptive headlight error----
VAG says something like scan below copied from someone else.
Just spent $1000 on MMI control. 3 days later I have this pop up.
I fear I'm gonna end up spending another $1000+ on this. Brake pads and rotors, MMI control head, Headlight, all in a month.

Check the connection to ACTUATOR MOTOR RANGE CONTROL ADJUST MOTOR($90).It's open short. If not just replace the it. You'll have to remove the headlight to have better access of removing the motor. Everyone here just buys a new headlight unit for $300+, when it's a under $100 dollar fix.
Here what the part looks like:
Here where you could buy it from:

Thanks--- I had seen that part on GAP also. I get conflicting info about the CORNERING motor. Some say that IT is not replaceable. My leveling up and down of both headlights is operational. Only the left right motion is missing and the left light is pointed to the left a bit off of center.

If I was you, I would take a look at it first. Because it now sounds like the actual clip or hook in the headlight unit might of crack. Making it in possible to fix. But let just hope it's the connection.

Cornering function failure requires that you replace the headlight. The price is $1030 for AFS headlight. You can get it for a little over $800 at ECS tuning.

Fair enough. At 122K mi, I think I'll just get a used one on eBay and swap the HID ballast, HID lamp, and Halogen lamp from the existing one. Any idea how long it would take a professional to drop the bumper and swap the lights?

It should be about 2-2.5hrs labour to replace both headlights. The headlights have about 30 wires in it so make sure that you ask the seller that light works as intended.

It's rather easy to drop the bumper cover. I did a quick how to based on the manuals. I believe the thread is titled 3.0T SC idler replacement.
First time out it took me 3 hours start to finish to remove bumper cover, headlights and pull the radiator support forward, find out I had the wrong part and put it all back together.
Second time, I had the pulley replaced and was back on the ground done deal in 1.5 total.
Since you don't have to go anywhere near as far, I bet you could have the cover and headlight off in about a hour your first time.
