Another MMI Issue

Hmm...might be your diagnostic hardware that can't read that code...
But since you have a optical break somewhere...that sure is you problem...don't know anyone with vcds to do a optical loop diagnostic?..

I checked some of the other modules that are operating properly and they all have a code listed, so I'm assuming that every module should have a proper code. I can read the previous code on all modules but when I reprogram the code it says successful but doesn't display on the ecu id. Weird.
Is it possible that the gateway isn't allowing communication with these modules and that the gateway is my issue? I really appreciate your help so far, it helps to have someone to confirm things with.
This may be a longshot but can I shine a laser pointer or something through the fiber optic and check the other end of it to see if it's making it to the next module or not?

I answered my own question. It does work! I shined a led light in one side of my bypass cable and could see the glow plain as day on the other end of the cable. I guess I'll look up the topology and start narrowing things down.

After shining the light thought eh cables I realized that there could still be a break in a cable and it would still pass light through the break. Is this a relevant test? I've found continuity on all modules except the head unit and something else nearby behind the dash. I'm not sure how to get the mmi screen out yet.

Wanted to update on this. I found the issue.
The rear door was leaking into the car. The carpet padding was absolutely soaked as well as the telephone transceiver. Pulled the transceiver and installed a bypass and it's working great.
Now this thing won't load the disks, this car is really starting to irritate me.
I also have an intermittent issue with the rear left brake light and turn signal and the side marker just started acting up the other day.
Also have a random esp fault and adaptive light that come on together.

Good for you!!! Finaly you solve your issue. When you have mmi problem, the first place to look for is the carpet on driver footwell. Water will flow right to this module. What a bad desing!
