Improve driving comfort- A6 C6 Avant
Hi guys,
My actual car(A6 C6 Avant, Year 2009, 2.0 TDI) has a factory sport suspension which I decided to replace for the following reasons:
- The car has a harsh ride, being to stiff for the roads that I drive
- The car height is too low for my needs( with 20mm lower than standard)
Therefore I purchased a set original springs from a standard suspension.
My question is, what kind of shock absorbers do you recommend for a standard(NON SPORT) suspension, being focused on comfort?
A) Original Audi standard suspension shock absorbers
B) Bilstein Touring Class
C) Other ones, please let me know which ones and why.
Again, I'm trying to improve comfort of my car and also lift UP, 20mm from the ground, as standard suspension is.
PS: It's mandatory to replace the sport anti-roll bar also to a standard suspension one?
thank you

Thanks for your answer,
Koni FSD can be fitted with standard original springs, or they require sport springs?
Like I said I will install these shocks absorbers with standard suspension springs and my dilemma is what to choose between standard shocks or aftermarket.

Like others have said, KONI FSD's hands down should be your first step with improving the ride. I have a H&R sway on the rear of the car and it really has very little impact on ride quality.

Comparing with original standard shock absorbers, Koni FSD's are better in terms of comfort and handling?
I'm also considering to install some plastic pads in order to increase the ground distance of my car. Do you recommend them? Spare part official Audi number: 8e0512145. I also attach a picture of the pad.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to have Allroad ground distance, but just a little bit higher than standard and also more comfortable than now, with standard SPORT suspension.

Yes they improved both ride quality and handling. Even though I am a car enthusiast every hair on my head is gray or white so you can trust me on the ride quality. Lol

100% yes... The FSD's really ride and handle that good.
Even put them on my wifes '02 330i and really helped with the sharp impacts and still able to control the sport package springs on that car too. Zero downside on the FSD's other than you may need to replace them again over time, some have reported they start to make some noise later on down the road. No such concerns on my two cars and we are at 10-15K miles for both cars.
