Default K&N Air Filter

Hopefully I'm posting this in the correct area. I'm Interested in getting a K&N for my car (3.2 a6 2005) it doesn't seem they make them for my car. I've checked everywhere for it. Do you have to buy the full intake kit? I'm not ready to have to spend $275+ on that(Just need something to help my car breath better), I could get something else instead. I'm just looking for a drop in ready and go type deal. What could I do? Any other alternative that's like a K&N? I found this the other day aFeŽ 10-10125 - Audi A6 2005-2011 Pro 5R Air Filter went and purchased it to receive an email 4 days later telling me they've discontinued the item.

I found this one here: K&NŽ - Audi A6 2005 33 Series Air Filter

Although I've been hesitant to get it because the website states that it is for the "Audi Allroad Quattro 2005", and I don't know if they are interchangeable between the wagon and the sedan.

I'd recommend you use the Search function on the forum. FWIW,most CAI are a complete waste and few actually improve performance. The OEM filter and design on the c6 is actually quite good.

There's a reason why there are few aftermarket alternatives; most don't achieve what the stock unit does.

The paper air filters are as good if not better than K&N and they do not get replaced that often so why change?

Mr Bizzle, have you even looked at the air filter on your car? The one you linked to is the typical flat style one and the one which your car actually uses is a conical filter and looks like this: Audi A6 Quattro Base Sedan 3.2L V6 Air Filter by MAHLE Fits: 2006-2007

I actually have not. I knew from some research that just because the filter fit the wagon (or so the website said), didn't mean it would fit the sedan. Thank you for the info though. I didn't realize the paper filter was as good or better than the K&N.

While on the subject, does anyone manufacture a cold air intake, and if so, what are your opinions on them?

I love logging on here, because every day I learn something new!

Thanks!

CAI systems for the C6 are pretty much all custom and my opinion on them...well simply put, why waste your time, money, effort on something that may actually reduce your power?
