Brake pads/rotor change

Brake pads/rotor change
Can anyone confirm, in order to change the rear brake pads, I need a VAG to disable the e-parking brake?
I want to say I've read different scenarios and trying to determine if it's worth the hassle (I don't currently own VAG & cable).
Appreciate it.

If you plan on doing the maintenance on this car yourself you really need a VAG-COM. Service interval resets, brake pads, even replacing the battery all require a VAG-COM. It sucks, but that's the way it is. On the bright side the tool will pay for itself after the first time you use it
If this is just a one time thing for you, find someone in your area that might be wiling to let you borrow theirs for a few hours.

Update...
I was able to change all four rotors & brakes (plus an oil/filter change).
I found Carista (Carista ? OBD2 vehicle diagnostics, customizations, coding & tools) from another thread in the A3/S3 forums.
Great little unit and app. Allows you to customize some things, but more importantly, it handles the EPB and Service reset. All from the ease of your phone. More $$ saved not having to buy the much more expensive vag-com.
Take it for what's it's worth.
