Extended Warranty
So I take possession of my 2012 A7 tomorrow and I've been mulling over the extended warranty info/cost the dealer supplied. As much as I don't like to buy these, the A8 has taught me about repair cost on these type of cars. So with that, I've searched and searched for reviews on Fidelity and there are many good and many bad things out there! One thing I read, more than once, was someone offering to at least quote the same coverage as a price check. Usually stating $50 over cost!
Is there anyone that can do that for me? Please send me a message and let me know. Here is what they have quoted on my soon to be new to me 2012 A7 with 62K miles:
Gold
1yr or 12K $1,926
2yr or 24k $2,405
3yr or 36k $2,986
4yr or 48k $3,707
Gold Plus
1yr or 12K $2,355
2yr or 24k $3,152
3yr or 36k $4,060
4yr or 48k $5,196
Platinum
1yr or 12K $2,950
2yr or 24k $4,097
3yr or 36k $5,428
4yr or 48k $7,013
Only listed the ones I'm interested in and they all have a $250 deductible.
Was thinking about the Gold Plus 3yr or 36k, but really like the idea of a Platinum since it list what isn't covered. Just seems like a lot of money and not sure I would even keep the car that long. Thinking it could help resell value if I went 3yrs and decided to sell in 2. Please let me know is anyone can offer a quote

I personally think you are better off taking the $4000+ you are thinking about dropping on an extended warranty and putting them in a savings account and using them to pay for repairs when/if needed.
I've had my A7 for a little over two years and I've had two problems so far - leaking water pump and mechatronics. The mechatronics would have been very expensive, but luckily Audi helped with the bill since the car had just lapsed warranty. If I had to pay for it out of pocket I probably would have bought a complete used transmission. I think that is a pretty rare problem with this car however since I haven't heard anyone else have a problem.

I personally was so much on the fence that I didn't purchase a warranty. I don't know if that was a good idea but for the most part after 45k or so miles, 2 recalls... no problems. (knock on 1's and 0's). Now at about 62k miles I'm just making sure i tick all the maintenance boxes, which alone is expensive.

I would agree with the others...$4k-5K is pretty steep and i would put the cash aside for emergency repairs that you may never encounter. More importantly is to now make sure all known failure items on this car (thermostat, oil valve,) have been done to the car and whatever software updates, so that you move forward with the smallest chance of incurring repairs.

I'm new to Audi ownership and may not understand Audi factory and extended factory warranties. I'm confused by the original poster's question.
His car is five model years old and has 62k. He stated interest in possibly purchasing an extended warranty to 4 years or 48,000 miles.
Would an extended warranty begin on the day of purchase and run for a maximum or 4 years, 48k miles beyond current mileage?

It's fairly simple. Extended warranties come into play after the time or mileage on the factory warranty has passed. In my case the dealer has taken care of a lot of items, but I believe all dealers offer extended warranties at the time of purchase in such cases.
In my case, I decided to go with the 2yr platinum coverage. Just decided I wanted the peace of mind considering the mileage. Like any insurance policy it's a gamble!
Thanks for the feedback and will post any outcomes of dealing with Fidelity.
BTW - I love the car!!! Won't be driving it as much this time of year as I want to keep it in good condition. Have my truck for the heavy snow and nasty road days!!!

I was in the same situation when purchasing my CPO'ed 2013 A7 w/ 55,000miles. I still ended getting the extended warranty from my local dealer; 2yr - up to 100,000miles for about $1,850usd
I agree with everyone, those prices seem very steep maybe shop around.
Thus far I've used it for control arms up front and I'll be going in next week for my lock touch sensor, none of my door sensors seem to be responding.

I would recommend buying the extended warranty I personally would go with the 2 year Gold Plus. I bought my 14' A7 with 41k six monthso ago and at 47k it's in the shop getting a new transmission. In two years you can still go to sell it and have all records on file and if nothing is wrong or havent had no problems you may just want to keep it. Basically you will know what you have in two years and save 1000 dollars.
