Headlight Reviews

Apparently IIHS said the majority of headlights on Audi's, VWs, BMW, MB etc are POOR. The LED setup on the A3 received a Acceptable rating. Only the Prius received a Good rating.
New IIHS ratings show most headlights are lacking
What is everyone's experience with the LED setup on the A7? I have a 2014 and feel they are very good, but have not compared them to much else.
Has there been any testing in Europe of the headlights?

Bottom line is LED is usually best, but primarily because of the adaptive system possible through camera controlled multiple matrixed beams. Which are prohibted in the US. With fixed beams, there isn't that much difference between LED and Xenon, although it varies from model to model. Lots of moaning about the high cost of adaptive systems though.
Here's a translated summary from the AutoZeitung test, which is in line with the others:
CONCLUSION
Our testing shows that benefit of new lighting systems are not just due to brighter light sources, but mainly by additional assistance functions for better visibility, greater foresight and thus provide significantly less stress on the driver. The winner, the LED array light of the Audi TT, convinces with bright and far reaching light. Thanks to its intelligent dynamic dimming blurring the boundaries between high and low beam, without dazzling other drivers. Second and third place, Mercedes LED Intelligent Light System and VW Active System Lightning convince with headlight and wider illumination. Disappointing, however, the performance of the laser main beam in the BMW i8: The additional cost is not worth it. But the test also shows that even for small cars good spotlight is worth having.

The US lags behind on almost every technological advance. In that regard we are still stuck in the stone ages thanks to old ignorant hacks running the show.
Is there any way to euro-spec our LEDs? Is it a software mod or easy to change?
