We've already updated on our own..

There's just a radio issue from what we can see. It definitely isn't a deal breaker IMO since my vehicle was on 0467.

And how will you fix the radio issue? I would imagine a dealer might balk to do it under warranty since you did the MMI update yourself? Of course, you could just live with it as is.

I guess I was lucky. I asked my dealer to update to 0715-2 from 0566 and they just did it, no muss, no fuss. My radio works fine.

I've had my car for seven months and been to three different dealers five times to have the software updated from 487. They have all refused to do the update saying that there isn't an update available.

If I need to, I will buy a vagcom cable and fix the coding myself. For me, this is a minor bump in the road to get closer to the end goal with my plan for this car.

I'm not under warranty so I bet the dealer would have told me to suck it anyways :-). I think it can be resolved with the Vagcom cable which I need to get anyways.

I purchased a ross tech cable last weekend on their anniversary sale. :-D

The car has the Bose system, but the focus is now on the driver's side and the balance/fader is all messed up.

I'm want to recode the amp setting. I'm having difficulty understanding what exactly I'm supposed to be entering in the coding window.

Here is the output from the scan:

Address 47: Sound System (J525) Labels: None
Part No SW: 4G0 035 223 C HW: 4G0 035 223 A
Component: BOSE-G3-C7 H07 0160
Revision: CJ007000 Serial number: 00000000037194
Coding: 030000
Shop #: WSC 02391 785 00200
VCID: 1D31921D049B3FC9659-8048

1 Fault Found:

000 - -
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 01100000
Fault Priority: 2
Fault Frequency: 1
Reset counter: 202
Time Indication: 0

With what I've been able to find online, which hasn't been much, I can't seem to code channel 47 with the right information. It has 030000 currently. Does anyone know what I'm supposed to enter here?

Thanks!

Mine says the same thing in the Coding field (see below), so that's probably not the problem. Have you tried clearing the fault, and rescanning?

Fiddling around in VCDS is not going to solve the Bose audio issue and could make things worse. It's the underlying code that only an MMI update will resolve as has been documented in several AW threads over the last couple of years. If a dealer can't be found willing to do an update under warranty, call AOA and ask to escalate to a customer service supervisor.

There seems to be a lot of misinformation going around surrounding MMI updates.

Dealers perform the updates with the same CDs or they wouldn't exist. There are also several threads saying that dealers have had to code the stereos after an update.

Not all of us have vehicles under warranty. I'm sure the stereo can be coded just like any other component. Our brothers across the pond have been doing this stuff on their own forever.

I don't have a cable. This the error code though. All that other stuff might be from running it with the vehicle off or temp codes because everything else functions and this is the first time I've seen them.

Well, if you want to save a few bucks by doing an update yourself vs. the dealer, have at it. I prefer to let the dealer be responsible for any screw up during the process. (There are posts where an MMI update went wrong and the dealer had to make good by replacing the MMI module). Good luck.

BTW, I've had the VCDS cable for years and have performed many mods on four of my Audis.

There are a lot of us at the point where the Bose system just requires coding. Everything works in the vehicle except the fader so I personally have not actively pursued the issue.

My Audi dealer has to be persuaded past the point of just throwing money at them to get an update done. Unfortunately I'm not living in Houston still where there are dealers everywhere. Here you're at the mercy of one dealer and the next closest is 100 miles away.

I kept the vehicle on the whole time to prevent any spikes in voltage. The result matches what many dealers have seen so I'm not concerned in that regard either.

I definitely discourage anyone who would be put in a bad position if they bricked their MMI from performing the update, but the latest discussion involves those who are already on the other side of the fence so if anyone wants to throw out some coding info, we welcome it!
