New A7-Audi Connect questions
I am climbing the learning curve on my new A7s features, and have a couple of quick questions regarding Audi Connect.
1) What are the differences between attaching a smartphone via a cable/AMI and simply pairing with Bluetooth. Can you still get text messages on the MMI when your phone is connected via BT?
2) When is the master value control setting for external devices--where you can set the sound level of external devices attached to the car? I came across this once, but I can't find it now.
Thanks!

Two different functions re a phone. For telephone use, you would pair with Bluetooth, not a cable. If you connect via the AMI, it would be used for playing audio and video files through the MMI. You can also stream audio from your phone via the Bluetooth Audio option. You don't say where you are located or what year A7 you have but if a MY2016 there is added functionality re messaging. I'll have to leave that to someone who has a MY2016.
As to audio level settings, I believe you can set each source level independently in the settings menu and once set, just use the master volume control for all sources.

1. I can get my text messages sent and received on the MMI with my Samsung note 4 bluetooth, you might have some issues if you have iPhone as some dont support text messages across bluetooth. I also can send texts by writing one out on the keypad when stationary or parked but I would never do it when driving no matter what.
2. You can change the default volume setting by going to the settings menu on the FM or media and change the default volume for incoming sounds.
BTW, I have the 2016 A7 too.
