03 a8 transmission slaming into gear
I have an A-8 2003 the car was banging when coming to a stop and then taking off. I got used to this and by carefully accelerating and it was tolerable. Now when starting out it will rev up and then SLAM into gear and go into limp mode. Only code was contaminated fluid as well as improper gear selection, changed fluid and transfer case fluid but same thing. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated

There is no code specifically for "contaminated fluid" ... only a possible 3rd cause of another fault code.
From Bentley manual >>
If the fault code was P0730 (17114), for "incorrect gear ratio", first thing to check is the output rpm sensor on the (G195) ... if that was OK, then you'd check ATF level ... no problem has ever been corrected in these transmissions simply by changing fluid (low fluid maybe ... bad fluid, no).
The next cause listed would be internal slipping clutches (rebuild ... take a second mortgage) or a faulty solenoid valve, if you're very lucky.
Cheers

The TCM is under the hood, in the Ebox, inboard of the ECM.
Here's what you're gonna need for any further testing/diagnosing info >>>

It could be the stuck main pressure control valve, but if so the pressure may have already broken some internals or blown out seals. Rough shifting was what I feel I addressed successfully with the TransGo valve kit but mine was just rough shifting sometimes, not banging and limping.
This valve may be a root cause and many rebuilds may fail due to the broken parts getting replaced without the root cause of the breakage being addressed. The valve might come in the trans rebuild kit but perhaps not the TransGo version that is less likely to stick. I dunno, no expert but both my cars sure shift nice.
