Dash kits and wiring harnesses are available from Metra and Scosche for plug-and-play compatibility with any cd/dvd/navigation system out there. Furthermore, any car audio installation shop worth its salt (sorry Best Buy) can make an aftermarket system look correct in the dash as well as interface with the stock amplifier(s).

Actually, there are no A8/S8 specific face plate adapters from Metra.
To make it work in the A8/D2 body, with the "facelift" dash, that has a dual DIN opening, you can use the A6 Metra face plate, but have to sand down/cut the sides shorter, as it's too wide, but is the correct height.

Search for my setup, and see how it looks when its done.

Sorry for jacking this thread, I did the aftermarket install about 2 years ago and the finish was very good and the sound quality is unbelievable, granted I went with a "full competition" install.

However I have had a problem finding a kit that will restore steering wheel control, not a must have but would be great. Has anybody found a suitable kit for the A8
