broken transmission wire?
Last weekend when I was diagnosing my no start/no crank issue, I found what looks to be a broken wire - see attached. I was going to inspect the F125 switch when I found this wire in the harness going to the plug on the front driver side of the transmission. It's the 14 pin connection going into the trans. When I peeled back the boot at the connector, I do not see any wire that this black wire would connect to. All of the pins have a wire attached, none are black. I don't see that any of the pins looked to have more than one wire crimped either. I'm not really sure if this wire was ever connected to anything or not.
Does anyone know if this wire was connected to anything? I've only been able to find a wiring diagram for an '01 S8 and the trans wiring doesn't match up to what I have on my '97 A8. Everything seems to operate normally and there are no fault codes.
Any help is appreciated.

That looks like the connection to the shielding around the output speed sensor cable. It may be connected at the other end, but they're not usually left hanging like that.
I can have a look at the diagrams for the 97 tomorrow

Huh. Input speed sender then, G182, page 4 track 21-23. I had a 50/50 chance

It shows the shield is connected at the ECU end only so I wouldn't worry about it if everything is behaving.
