Gas problem
Just lost 30-40 ? bucks worth of petrol.
Car had been sitting a day or so, switched it around in the driveway with one of the others, hit a bump in driveway !!!, the indicator read 70 odd kms left, went to take it out later (abt 3 hours), it read 50 kms and had dropped just on the reserve red stripes, went to friends place for a couple of hours and got in car to see it indicated ZERO km and gauge was at bottom of reserve stripes ... ... WTF !
Have I split a line on the driveway or what ?
ARE there any low lying fuel lines under the S8 ?
Or have I banged a line and made a junction break ?
NO SMELL of gas anywhere, front or back, or in engine bay !
Going to fill it ($30) again tomorrow morning and lay some cardboard under the length of the car and see whats up .....

Just a guess: Level sensor problem ... there are two (left and right) and both are different types. On our saddle tanks, the readings of both are added together to "estimate" the actual gallons remaining ... a system VERY prone to incorrect gauge readings.
A long time ago, I became accustomed to readings changing between parking and restarting. Even when working perfectly (rare), the only true gauge of gallons left is filling the tank.

Ok, up and at them this early morn ...
So put in 20 at the gas stop this morning, gauge moved (just) and display went to 30 k.
So not a sensor problem and the gauge reading tells me that I have lost the lot in the last day and a half.
So a line split or junction break .... fffff
Tiz still early in the morning, but coming back to the car after filling, I noticed a few drops from up the front, could be condensation tho.
So first suspect is a fuel line under the skid pan or cover up front.
Are there any plans/shots of the fuel line system ?
Seems weird that I felt good about the gauge etc working, but now I have the reality (nightmare ?) of replacing the line/lines ....

Seems odd that you don't smell gas or see puddles under your car if a line is broken. I got a little gas on my hand filling up today and could smell it immediately.
I'd lean towards a gauge/reading issue.
Good luck.
