New 02 S8 - Niggles
Hi all,
I've recently purchased an 02 S8, and while it's mechanically fantastic (at 220,000 miles no less), there are a few little niggles that I'd like to get sorted. Any help with any of the following would be much appreciated.
1. The passenger window does not move using either of the switches. I can hear a little click in the door when the buttons are pressed, but no movement. Assuming motor is the most likely culprit? This is the main thing I want to fix before it gets warm (UK).
2. There's a warning light on the display that looks like it's for the auto-levelling headlights. Are there diagnostics I can run to find out if it's a) definitely that, and b) which sensor has gone assuming there's one front and back?
3. Parking sensors don't work. I don't really care, but is there a way I can stop the beeping warning other than pushing the button every time I go into reverse?

Welcome to the club!
1. Window not working: You have clicking sound so most likely a motor, as you stated.
2. Warning light on display: VAG cable and software will tell you what's wrong. Ross-Tech: VCDS
3. Parking sensors not working: The parking sensor unit is in the trunk, left side under the navigation and next to the amp. You can disconnect the power to the parking sensor system and that will stop the beeping.
Good luck.

Have a look at the level sensors - front one is on the left hand side and attaches to the frame rail in front of the axle with the arm attaching to the front lower control arm behind the shock strut.
It only has a small metal arm clipping it to the control arm and mine fell off damaging the clip. So I've ended up using a tiny zip tie through the slot on the clip to lock it in place.
VCDS will just tell you it's 'out of range' or 'range control beyond measurable value' or something!
I don't recall which side the rear is on, but it'll be easy to spot.
