Strut Mount Replacement
Hey D2 Owners,
Looks or should I say sounds like I need to replace my front strut mounts. What is a reasonable amount of time it would take to replace both front mounts? I'll be using my mechanic, who works on Euro cars, to do the job.
After the mounts are replacement will I need to do a front wheel alignment?

I'm a little confused as to why you think it's strut mounts?
There's no bearing at the top of Audi struts, just a rubber bush which is a vibration damper before the alloy mounting plate (which the upper arms also mount on to).
What noise or other symptom do you have?

A crunching/popping sound is coming from the passenger's front side. The sound seems to be coming from almost directly under the corner of the dash next to the windshield on the passenger's side.
When the outside temp is below 30 degrees (F) the crunching/popping sound is very prevalent. As the outside temp gets warmer the crunching/popping sound goes away.
I had the control arms checked and they are all in good condition with no play.
