A8 buying advice

There are several D3 2007 - 2008 A8s for sale in the "Marketplace" tab of this forum. As expected from those who frequent this website, they appear to have been well maintained and are immaculate looking. Check them out.
What I have done on 3-4 occasions is negotiate with the seller who may be a long way from home (from NJ to CA in the past) and find out what, if any, "surprises" there are with the cars they are selling. "What would I see on arrival that would be a deal killer?" I then buy a one-way Southwest ticket to where the seller is located, buy the car, and have a great road trip home. It has worked several times without a hitch -- with the exception of the time I bought my 2001 A6 from a dealer in NJ. Car had been in and accident, and because of the weather issues I couldn't detect problems / repairs until I got to Alabama and saw it in different light. But I dealt with it, drove it to 168k miles, and loved it all the way.
Good luck! And welcome to the Forum!
