"audio pilot" works backwards (2004 D3)
When the car slows or cockpit noise decreases, the stereo volume INcreases. I know I've seen this problem discussed before but can't find it. sw version 0805 (?)

Same here when I updated to 4610. Always had it switched off anyway as even when it was supposedly working it seemed random in operation to point of annoyance. Useless gimmick in my book.

You're right, and I found it here.

Needs a trip to the dealer to update the firmware in J533 module....no thanks. Will stay turned off

I think this may be the old MMI update issue--the one where is you start at a version below 1070 you are still supposed to pass through 3360 before going on to 4610. But jbell responded below and IIRC did the two step approach. Maybe others too... So I'm not sure. But if you came from and early D3 MMI and went straight to 4610 and weren't reading along in the instructions, this may be that updating sequence issue.
FWIW, you will find that software update part number (CD W42A8317) referenced in this set of instructions, which in turn I think are the ones for 4610: http://uberlame.com/a6_tsb/MMI/MMI%2...0procedure.pdf I'll leave someone w/ the issue to try to parse through it, and also maybe figure out if you can do a "do over" (besides the clean up disk) if you are already at 4610.

I went via 3360 but have this issue. The CD referenced in the TSB is for the dealer only VAS unit, not an MMI update patch unfortunately.
It's the firmware in module J533 that needs at least version 040 or above. So it's a dealer visit, hope they know what you're talking about and can get that CD referenced, or buy a new/used J533 and retrofit.

Maybe I should stop reading your posts Tom,
This just happened to me yesterday, I have had it happen maybe twice before, but not in the last year that I can recall, I came to a stop and the music increased dramatically, then went lower as I drove off, I turned off auto pilot and did the 3 button MMI reset and all is good once again... Until the next time..
I also went the 3360-4610 route.

It (audiopilot) worked perfectly in my other '04 A8, no one noticed it was even doing it until we borrowed a Toyota (Highlander Limited) and my kid said "Why does it get louder when we stop and you can't hear it when we go?". I miss it. First-world problem FTW!
