Cant enable hidden green menu
I have just tried via VCDS to enable the green menu
I went into VCDS
selected module 7 head unit
then selected adaptation 10
then selected channel 8 and read values
Then I get an error "channel 8 not available"
Am I doing something wrong?
My car is an 2004 A8 4.0 Diesel.
Many thanks

From the link:
"Please make sure that your Audi Multi Media Interface software version is up to date. In some older versions you won’t have access to hidden green menu or it will have less options then described. Read article MMI 2G software update to version 5570."
What version of MMI do you have?

Very ancient. Hang it on the mantle.
One thing to watch out for: With a 2004 4.0 diesel, you must be somewhere besides North America. Most of us talk in MMI version numbers used in USA/Canada. To be clear, where yours says 0.3.50 is version. Board just shorthands these without the periods.
You are old enough (especially sub 500), that if it were USA, you would probably do a two step update. That involves going through the version where AMI first came out, which was 3360 here. From there you go to current/final version. You would want to translate that to your local market disks and revision levels. Here the info is buried in some technical service bulletins, but they all use USA centric MMI version numbers. Some have succeeded with one leap all the way to current version, but others seems to get hung up with various issues that need patches or reinstalls. The ones who did the careful two step approach even from pretty old/early versions made it successfully from any posts I recall talking through it.
