Has anyone successfully cleaned the contacts on the door lock switches that are part of the door handles? If so, how did you clean them?

i sprayed mine with WD40 when the drivers one started playing up and pressed it a couple of times ijust sprayed around the actual push button and i also used an air hose after the WD40 to help penetrate the whole area underneath the push button.
pressed it a dozen times and it started working again.
i dont know if this is a short term fix but it did work for now.
my cars coming up for ten years now so i figure this wearable part is a future job and i also would welcome peoples experiances on this..
