Default Front speakers cuts/dies when turning up

Hi!

On my 2004 A8, the front speakers cut/die when I turn up the volume,
if I turn down the volume, sometimes the front speakers turn on again, but most times they stay quiet until I let the car stay shut for a while.

Any ideas? Quite annoying not being able to listen to music properly.

Thanks

Sounds like an amplifier problem to me.

Hi! And welcome to the forum!

I would guess that some AMP could be faulty. Check bildelsbasen.se to find a used one or ebay.de. I think you can find the amps in the trunk. The opposite side of the battery.

I really hope it´s not the amp, at the scrapyard (bildelsbasen) the cheapest one´s where out for over 5000 sek (600usd-ish).

Try to scan the sound system first for error codes. I sorta the same problem but in the reverse order. Only the right side of my speakers work until I turn the volume up high then the left side starts to work. It is caused by the Amp being in component protection.

Component protection is supposed to shut off the amp for 5 seconds then turn it back on again.

Silly question; Are all of the speakers stock? If not, return them to stock units otherwise all bets are off.

If stock, a diagnostic scan with VCDS or the real VW/Audi tool is the proper way to diagnose this.

If it was in component protection mode, there would be no sound at all, and the speaker symbol would be crosses out on the MMI screen, just like when the MMI CH goes into CPM.

If it turns out to be the amp, also as mister Bally asked, are they OEM speakers ?
