+1, looks like a massive vacuum leak to me.

Thanks guys.

Will start taking some intake hoses off and looking for a leak. Is there a diagram of all the vacuums lines and hoses?

Thanks again.

You should have an underhood sticker with the basic vacuum schematic. Given your issues it would not be just a small line--something major like the multi inch rubber connections between the MAF and the intake, or some of the big hose take offs in that area like that go to power brake unit and suck valve (aka suction valve and various other names--Y shaped, basically a splitter Y with a one way check type function. You will find hoses like these between back of engine and firewall, on drivers side. Or other pretty obvious stuff where you hear air sucking noises like a broken intake or some such. Also look at the PCV valve--that ginormous round plastic thing toward back of intake area sitting fairly high up.

Remember though, it could also be fuel starvation. The Ether test idea may help give you some sense if it is on the fuel side. Old school used to be dribbling gas down the carb, but no longer practical with long and difficult to access intakes.

Did some looking around for a broken hose but found nothing. The only thing that I found is 079133424s. I am not sure what that is, but the plastic on top that the hose goes over it is broken.

Sounds like you might have found your leak. The product description is pretty telling: This adapter is located on the rear of the intake manifold, just after the throttle body, on your vehicle. It ties into the vacuum system of your vehicle and allows idle air through when the throttle body is closed.

How are you testing for vacuum leaks? Best way is carb cleaner or an unlit propane torch.

While I was looking around. I decided to pull the plugs to see how they look, and I have a picture of the broken part.

How do I look for vacuum leaks. I just look for them visually.

Maybe you can crop the plug pictures down to just the plug body or tip area to get a better view. AW's photo poster just sizes the image automatically no matter the file size you post to start. Thus, better to use the pixels on the focus area. Can't see enough so far, but given what looks like a good amount of carbon and oily type stuff those look well used/due for change from at least a distance.

I can't really make out the other part either, though IIRC the name of that part would fit your code it seems. My C5 4.2 didn't have a part like that. Also, I don't know from your comment if you mean it is cracked through to a functional part of it, or just some cosmetic mounting type tang or some such is cracked off that would not compromise the vacuum sealing of it.

Finally had a chance to replace that broken part this morning. After replacement, still no change to how the car runs. This is how it came out.

Well, that may not have been the problem you were trying to fix, but at least you fixed a problem.
