Sure... I have VagCom (HEX-USB+CAN Interface) and can help scan if needed. As for indy shop recommendations, I usually go to Drive Auto Works in Clifton NJ. There may be a couple good shops in Brooklyn/Queens... I just haven't found them.

Since 2012; started with my C5 Avant. There are other options as well, so hopefully others can chime in with recommendations.

Default ICE upgrade

So, my next project on the D3 is to upgrade the In Car Entertainment system. I have ordered and already received a couple items.
1. DMT9.4 Digital ATSC-M/H TV tuner.
2. Audi Digital Hybrid TV Tuner (may get FISCUBE MMI 2G kit instead)
3. Kufatec TV tuner wiring harness

The end goal is to have a setup that provides additional (2+) A/V inputs both for display on the MMI screen and headrest monitors, utilizing the OEM audio sound system well, with possibility of expansion ( adding an Android OS stick, RaspberryPi 2).

Some pics:

I have RCA A/V connectors (2) on order; will pick up the mounting screws for the tuner saturday. Might be a busy weekend installing this.

Nice D3! I know the trunk can sometimes behave poorly, but it's very much repairable at a reasonable cost. Search on here as there are plenty of threads. If you need guidance, send me a PM.

Thanks guys.

I installed the TV tuner last night. I went with Kufatec's FISCUBE 2G MMI kit which provides access to AV inputs as well as a USB port for playing media all via the MMI. (The DVB-TV is of no use, so I will look at using the AV inputs). I am reserving the 3G MMI Digital tuner for my C6 Avant.

The install was effortless ( basically plug n plug with the kufatec wiring harness). The only issue now is to find/locate my RVC module so I can connect the video loom cable to send video to the MMI display. It 'should' be in the right compartment in thr trunk....but I dont see anything even close; the battery seems to be in the way. Will try again...perhaps I need to take the trimings out. Insights from fellow D3 owners welcome.

mounted on the inner body behind the trunk liner. I didn't have it on my 06 so I'm not 100% sure, but I've seen pictures of it here and there on the net. Now you have both AV1 and AV2, you can do many things with them (after hooking up to the MMI screen). <a href="https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a8-s8-d3-platform-discussion-60/i-can-watch-tv-5-1-digital-sound-mmi-2g-2852242/page2/#post24476774">Watch TV while driving</a> or <a href="https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a8-s8-d3-platform-discussion-60/i-can-watch-tv-5-1-digital-sound-mmi-2g-2852242/page2/#post24528509">stationary</a>, hope you got the mobile and stationary combo tuner.

I'm playing with my Raspberry Pi 2 with KODI, setting up the airplay for my Apple stuff. The goal is to watch youtube, WD mycloud movies, iTunes, Google maps on the fly since I have unlimited data plan on my phones and hotspot.

JJA6Q is the one started the TV retrofit stuff.

Cheers,

Yes, I have read and re-read those threads by JJA6Q (including yours)...they have been truely invaluable!! Someone mentioned the RVC module should be on the navigation DVD drive; I will check later this evening.
