I agree. Prevailing evidence supports that notion.

I've done this mod. Most Aussie pre facelift cars had no auto lights. So I fitted the rain and light sensor. Interestingly, it will work, but the auto lights won't.
So I swapped the central elec 09 module for a newer one, and it works. You will have to run the calibration for the steering wheel also.

I have a light only sensor here too. But obviously no relevant now.

Can you see that in 09 cent elec
In subsystem 2 regenlichtsensor
If not give me all the part numbers in 09
Can you show me where the code/part number is located I am not sure how to access subsystems. I will go start and dig around a little. Also could you or someone else show me the coding for 09 Cent. Elect. ILM Fahrer?

When you scan your car you get a report with error codes etc
Saved on note. That's what's needed.
I will get to my pc soon and send you mine.
Or someone else bored ??

Mine is 2004 and it has that option and it also works too
Not sure exactly when in 04 it appeared, either as standard or an option, but mine definitely doesn't have the rain sensor only light.

The rain/light sensor is integrated into the same sensor, but they have different part numbers depending on if it's just a light sensor, or rain and light sensor. The controller it connects to is also a different part number for the rain sensor version with different wiring between the two.

In short, it's not something that can just be turned on by coding. You need to have the correct hardware installed also for it to actually work.
