I really do enjoy my D4, and I had a 3.0t for a loaner. While I found it's power sufficient, it pulled very similarly to a D3 with the pre-FSI motor, it made the wrong noises and wasn't as smooth. I have not driven a 4.0t, but they have more punch than any of the competition, with the 4.0t S8 being positively volcanic. The D4 4.2 is quite a bit quicker than the D3 4.2's, mostly due to the 8-speed, and falls neatly between the 3.0t and 4.0t in terms of both performance and economy.

I'm glad to see I am not the only one who thinks the D3 is a timeless design. That car looked good the day it came out and still looks good years later. I was at the insurance office bumping up the coverage on my car yesterday and the agent taking pictures was fawning over the car. Asked if it was a 14 or 15...when I told him 08 he about crapped his pants.

As for the exhaust I would LOVE to have a milltek on the car. That is a long term plan but I must be patient.

When it comes to D3 vs D4 place me in the D3 camp. However the D4 headlights are to die for and the interior is getting even nicer. The latest S8s are starting to look VERY good but the TT kills it for me. I love my big NA engine.
