Default window motor

I am going to fit a new front driver window regulator. Is there any procedures that i need to follow. Do i need to have the window down before removing the old unit and do i need to remove the fuse of the door control unit

When I did mine, the window had to be placed in a specific location. You don't know what the position is until you get the access plugs removed. To get to the access plugs, you need to have the interior door panel removed. A word to the wise. Buy all new interior door panel clips from your Audi dealer.

As I recall the way it goes is to remove the wood trim first. Start at the end closest to the hinge and work your way back. See other descriptions to locate all the screws.

You will need the pop rivets from Audi and a heavy duty pop rivet gun. Northern tool or Harbor Freight has them. Don't even think about doing the job without one.

It looks like this:

Replacing the window motor is less work. Take the door panel off, unbolt motor, and bolt the new one on. Test and reassemble.

I have swapped the window motor today but the unit will not code to the original value of the old window motor. It will not work and also affect the functions of the other window motors.I notice the software version is different. The new motor is 0050 and the old motor is 0080. Is there anyway to upgrade the software myself or i need to go to the dealer--------------------------------------------------------------

Who would have thought!
Ok the software number is on the label of the part.
I see they are about $50
Option 1 see Audi dealer . They will probably say cannot be done or charge well over the $50 to do it or try to upgrade it.

Option 2 bite the bullet and buy another same as yours or later should be ok.
You can see everything on the label.
In hindsight you could have got the firmware ver. off the vcd printout but who would have thought it mattered.
