Default 2013 A8L Off Idle Hesitation

I'm driving a 2013 A8L while I wait for my 2013 S8 to come in and the off idle hesitation is driving me crazy. I sure hope the S8 doesn't have this. No matter whether I'm in comfort or dynamic car mode or normal or sport transmission mode I cannot take off without a slight delay in acceleration. Also when I slow down to go around a corner and then hit the gas or go to pass someone on the freeway and hit the gas I get the same hesitation, which sometimes borders on dangerous. Is this normal or is there something wrong with my car? Other than that I love the performance of the 4.2 engine.

There is a transmission update for this car. I have the same issue on the 2012 Audi A8L and Ive been told it really improves the smoothness of the gear shifts and eliminate the lag from stop-go.

I posted about this lag a few months ago.

Glad to see someone else confirms it.

It's a PITA for sure.

It's bad as the 2000 A6 shifting from first to second immediately as you roll out of a side street to join traffic. Then you hit it and the GD thing is in second and had to down shift to get going. There was a reprogram for this via VAGCOM Which came out after I turned in my 2000 for the RS6

Now the lag in the A8L 4.0 is the same kind of issue.

A friend turned in his S5 cab after 1200 miles ate the lost money to get out of the lease because of the lag.

I've gotten better at feathering the gas pedal but it leads to "why are you doing that" from passengers who think your trying to race at every light

I also had a transmission lag on my 2006 Audi A8L which was reprogrammed and eliminated the lag completely so I am very confident that the update for the 2012-2013 will be just as good. I am not worried at all.

I'd inquire at the dealer but they gone.....it's now an hour and half round trip to 'inquire'.....

I'll wait until some here has the update done and can give me concrete info on the source of the update so I can go to the dealer and help them find the update. Little faith in Audi dealers when it comes to updates.

We were all YEARS ahead of the dealers on the "head liner noise issue" of ALL AUDI MODELS and on the DRC issues on the RS6.....

They like to pretend they know it all.

When I inquired about the hesitation on the S5 (was considering one myself) they said there was no bulletin but there was! D'ooh..

Very likely the TSB will be applied to the 2013 model since they dont always update the transmission program in the later models until later on.
