Adaptive Cruise Control on the A8

Adaptive Cruise Control on the A8
Good morning,
Two years ago, after driving from Germany to Italy and back on a MB S550 and being amazed by the ACC function, I decided to buy a Q7 (while still owning the 2012 A8L) with the Technology Package. The ACC performed very badly, mainly because it had only 1 radar, as opposed to MB's 3 radars (Narrow, normal and wide). Basically, the Q7 wouldn't see a vehicle cutting me off, until it was right in front of me, while the S550 would 'see it' before it crossed the lane line.
After I got rid of the Q7, very disappointed overall with the quality, and replaced it with a 2015 A6 a few weeks ago, I am now debating if it's worth adding the ACC on my upcoming 2015 A8 or not.
Any experience of somebody who tried both systems (Audi and MB) would be appreciated.
Thank you!

The D4 A8's have two ACC sensors (located where the fog lights on a normal car would be). They debuted on the Porsche Panamera and are called LRR3 or generation 3 by Bosch and can detect objects within a beam width of approximately 40 degrees at a distance of up to 820 feet. They work great IMO!

I can't compare against the S550's system, but ACC is one of the 'must have' features for me if you do any amount of highway/interstate driving.
I had it on my D3, and that system was definitely prone to switching off when weather / road conditions were poor. And since I live in the Pacific Northwest, we have our share of wet and nasty roads.
The D4 system seems empirically far more reliable so far, and I haven't noticed any issues with being cut off.

There are somany cameras and sensors on the A8L the sales rep suggested I might have to wash the car more often to clean them...as well as my pearl black A8L.
I didn't have ACC on my 4 yr old S400 so it's new to me...and I found myself a little afraid to use it at first, as the manual instructions were not as clear as they should have been IMO. After a couple of tries I found it a great assist. Added to the lane control and the rear view mirror assists tHe car almost drives itself.

Had my daughter out for a ride in my 2 month old S8 last weekend and was showing her the ACC and the Lane Assist I could actually take my hands off the steering wheel and the car kept on going. It wandered from side to side to the point you can't say it drive itself, but it is close, very close. It makes me think all this propaganda about cars without drivers may be possible.

I guess I can voice out my opinion previously having '08 CL600, '13 CL63AMG and my current '14 S8.
Whatever MB algorithms is using they are better than Audi's. More intuitive, smoother and more thrust worthy.
In my current S8 I always feel that the ACC is engaging/kicking in too late (yes, I know about the adjustments).
