I thought the German's knew better and avoided touch screens in cars. Touch screen in a car is the worst idea IMO. It's a very big distraction to the driver who has to look at the screen and try to hold their hand steady in order to touch the right area of the display. Not to mention the constant care it takes to wipe off the smudges.

I like the idea of giving the passenger a touch screen, so they can enter the destination and swipe it over to the driver's display etc. For when the driver is alone in the car, voice control should be used to control every aspect. I personally love the combination of voice control and the current MMI controls. The most common functions are a click or two or a voice command away, but they need to invest more into voice recognition getting to the level of Google Now, Siri, Cortana and beyond.
