CONSIDERING PURCHASING MY FIRST A8...

It appears to be still listed on Carmax; looks really clean, worth taking a closer look.

I have another question for all you fellow Audi owners.
I've always shied away from a vehicle that had more than 30K or 40K miles on it.
What are your thoughts on buying an Audi with over 40K miles? I've seen several A8's and A7's that I was interested in, but they had a ton of miles on them for the model year.
I spoke to one salesman about it, and he said "It's just a sign of someone that loved the car and loved driving it".
Either way, I've always been leery of something with that many miles.

For me, model year would be more of a factor than mileage. Electrical gremlins and other problems areas seem to be attributed more to the car's age than the miles driven. Another thing to consider is the early 2011 A8s without the sim card slot cannot have their maps updated. Having said that, I would take a 2012 with the 4.2 over a 2013 with the 3.0 because I have been driving the 4.2 for 10 years and love that engine. The 3.0 sounds like it is struggling, or maybe it's just the supercharger, either way I just prefer the 4.2.

I bought my 2011 A8L with 49,000 on the clock, and you'd never know without looking at the odometer. These cars are long lived, in the long run 20,000 here or there really isn't relevant.

That's great insight.
I too am leery of turbo charged vehicles. I had a SAAB 900S turbo once and I always had problems with it. I know, a SAAB is an Audi. But I think this just got me to sway away from turbo vehicles altogether.

My S8 is the smoothest, most non-turbo lagging car I've ever had.
I OFTEN forget it is turbo charged.
This V8 with "in the V" twin scrolled turbo's is a marvel to behold.
I have full confidence in the Audi design with a water to air intercooler (i.e. a LOT less piping in and around the engine bay).
The old problems of cracking manifolds, overheated turbo bearings, etc..... are just that, old.
