Love my '15 S8, and wouldn't trade it for S550 for anything. I am very pleased with the mileage on the highway, where I do most of my driving, and don't often carry more than one other person. Never owned an L but any additional length for me would be most unwanted. Absolutely love the performance and the fact that I never see another one when I'm on the road. There are some S7's around where I live, but I've not seen another S8 in the State.

A8 4.0T is not an S8 but its $20k less; it gives 'almost' the performance level, specially with the Trip in the 'S' position. Get the Sport Diff // if you analyze the numbers the 0-60 time is .6s slower & the suspension is 'almost the same, the mpg is28-30 vs 22 Hwy / S8 is a track car not for streets urban or suburban >>IMO IMO <<
Go to Greece with the savings! (for a month or more)

.6 seconds 0-60 difference is a lot! Especially considering how fast the 4.0t already is.

There is too much roll for the S8 to make a good track car.

I once took a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 around Virginia International Raceway for a half dozen laps. Was it a track monster? Not exactly. Was it fun? Immeasurably so. Unless your racing for real, it's all about fun, and I'd bet the S8 can deliver that by the truckload.
