Dealer's won't give you a hard time over it. Never heard of anyone having an issue, couldn't see why anyone would, unless you plan on really slamming it, in which case the limits built into the system would prevent you from doing without mechanical means.

I was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer in May. HCC. that's when I bought my A8L -D4.
I've tried to drive the wheels off it. It's now spread to bones and can barely get in and out. But I don't feel disabled at all while driving it
My driving days are numbered though. I had to leave car 100 miles from home in last trip due to condition and mild hallucinations I just drive local now
Gary drive it like you stole it!

After talking to the tech at the indy shop, its the ECM counter that needs to be reset to 1 before taking into the dealer for warranty work. If you get a ECM flash for power, just have to flash back to the OEM file, reset the counter and good to go...

I had them change some VCDS "soft" settings while I was there. Needle sweep, windows by remote, DRL brightness etc.

Closed the gap. May drop a little more but at least it doesn't look like a 4x4..... just Quattro now....

before...

after ... a little over an inch drop

The flag from a tune is permanent, even reflashing to stock does not get rid of it.

Jack is correct. The flash counter cannot be reset and if it doesn't match what Audi has on their records your car is flagged as "TD1".

Yep, there are enough first person posts around now across a variety of Audis and VW's to confirm that even with reflashing to "stock," they can find it and then the TD1 permanent disqualification. But, they may only dig for it on a deeper service dive or when pressed by Audi USA. Assume when it matters--blown motor, tranny, diffs, turbo, flaky ECU, etc.--they will look very carefully. Gotta pay to play.

No. I always double and triple check what someone tells me....

That's too bad too because there's a tuner in town that just got the AWD dyno installed.... I have to wait till get an aftermarket warranty that doesn't require a visit to the dealer. only 40k miles to go... lol

Glad to hear it, that would have been quite a shame. There are some that instead of trying to mod the ECU, it fools it by altering inputs with a bolt on device, but those are very risky and it's debatable as to whether or not it they are in fact undetectable.
