Default i suggest these for an A8 D4.

I have had 2 sets in the past on different audis. Not a track tire, but a very good sport lux summer tire. I liked mine.

Wait for the new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires that are arriving in May/June. Excellent reviews and feedbacks. Look them up.

Looks like an awesome tire, thanks for the info.

I don't need an A/S tire, but on cool days it would be an advantage for sure.
Wonder how it will perform in 100F+ heat on drives to Florida and Texas...
Will keep an eye on this for sure.

Also considering the option of new 19" wheels that would put me in a 255/45/19.

Option A:
OZ Superturismo LM $445 each, CON: requires hubcentric

On an S4 http://blog.benoa.net/2011/11/oz-sup...n-audi-s4.html

Option B:
W12 19" Option $648 each

Thoughts ??

You can run 275/35/20 tires on the A8. Your speedo will show 60mph when you are really going 58. Its 2.7% change, not major by any stretch of the imagination. You will have a slightly stiffer ride as you will have less sidewall to play with. Your typical sidewall will drop about .4" I do like the 19" W12 wheels.

Thanks, I just realized that this morning. D'oh!
Me no unner stand tihre syzes reel guud LOL

Am leaning toward the W12 wheels since they are direct fit compared to the OZ.
More conservative look as well without the OZ RACING emblazoned across them.

Have to think on this a little bit more still.

Did you read the reviews? They said the Michelin Pilot SPort a/s 3 was far superior then any of the summer performance tires they compared them to and said that these pilot sport a/s 3 are not typical all season tire feel but grippy, smoother, quieter and longer lasting with summer performance handling.

Its a breakthrough for Michelin.

I did, and plan to re-read them tomorrow to be sure I didn't miss anything.

When it comes to pre release technology reviews it's something I usually am very interested in.
Automotive tech is a different story, and the reason I moved up my purchase on the 4.2L before they were gone.
I am a bit old school and like to see real world reviews on some things before jumping on a bandwagon.

Since they are not available in a size for the 20" wheels or the 19" W12 according to their website, it's a bit of a moot point.
If they do become available I'll look much deeper into them.

If these are anything like the legacy of excellent tires Michelin has produced they will be superb, and possibly my next next tire
