Towing with an A8 TDI USA
Hello,
I am looking to replace my dieselgate passat with an A6 or A8 TDI.
Do we have any options for towing in the US? I would like to get a '15 model A8.
When I contacted the dealer they said it wasn't possible to install.
Does anyone tow with their D4 A8? If so can you point me to the correct place?
This is what I got when I email westfalia.
Attached you will finddna fitting instructuion of the towbar 305384. Please be so kind and check it up with your car identification. If it is the correct towbar please be so kind and and contact your local retailer or wholesaler.

There's no reason the European hitches won't work, VCDS requires some coding changes. I know a couple members have added hitches to their prefacelift models, but I'm not sure of those if any are in America. I think it's just not popular in the US, hence the lack of dealer support.

Don't know about the diesel and when it comes to tow hitches, countries differ a lot in respect of their requirements.
The only hitch Audi could supply for my 2015 S8, is the genuine Audi version which electrically folds away under bumper. We get the Euro spec vehicles in South Africa.
It cost an arm and a leg (Equivalent of $5,000.00!), because with the hitch, they had to add a switch in the trunk, an ecu and harness and apart from that, the 2 cooling fans had to be replaced with bigger ones as part of the Audi requirements for the installation.
