Default Key FOB

Good morning to all board members,
I searched all threads concerning FOB issues tried the different methods and nothing works for me.
I own a 1996 Audi A6 C4 model. I bought it used and I had only one key when I bought it which is a big key with only one button it is a hella HUF 443837220D on the blade on one side HAA and the other side HUF signature... It is really a blade key non flip.
My central locking pump broke and I found a replacement with the exact same replacement part numbers. When I use the key manually the doors open and close and the alarm is switched on or off... But the doors do not lock or close when the single button on the key is pressed. It was working before my pump broke down...
Is there a method of make my key known to the car or has the central locking pump something to do with it? Thanks for the time you will take to answer me because I m turning nuts not finding the answer and make the remote work again
Have a nice day
Best Regards
Philippe

ok..I am assuming you have the radio transmitter key and not the infared type... the procedure must be completed in 30 seconds. You will need 2 car keys and all remotes you want programmed, control unit will handle up to 4.

Turn on ignition with key #1. Insert key #2 in drivers door lock , turn key locking door slowly, hold the key in the lock position ,with your other hand press both buttons on the remote until the car unlocks itself. (I don't know about your Hella key with one button..most here in the USA had two or three buttons)

Re-lock car holding key again press both buttons on remote #2 till the car unlocks itself again. Repeat this procedure for up to 4 remotes. Remember to leave ignition on till you are done entering remotes.

Do not try and work locks with a remote you have entered till you turn the ignition off.

If you can get a Ross-Tech or VagCom check the programming on the control module..here in the USA the module coding default is 12172 or 16140, depending on what radio was installed in the car.

Could be the control module has incorrect coding for your car.
