Default 97 A6 Quattro ABS problem

Recently my car has developed an issue were the abs kicks in every time i brake around the 2-5mph mark. I tried pulling the fuse, but when i do that the car seems to have trouble shifting into Second gear Sounds awful! Then i tried to disable it by unplugging the module under the back seat.......car died in the road. Is there anyway i can disable the system without it causing something else to fail (if I'm correct the abs fuse has something to do with the diff in the rear?!) not too sure someone please help its super annoying!
