Resetting airbag light in a V8
Got a new wrinkle on this old question...
The airbag control module originally fitted to the V8 seems to have no provision for being reset. The VW tester used to test it is pretty basic. Attaching a Vag Com tester to it doesn't seem possible, according to the techs I have talked to. There was a recall of the early modules and the replacement module has a couple of extra connectors. Can I assume that this module has the capability of connecting to a Vag Com? Does this module store codes and can it be reset?
Thanks,
Jeff

Need to remove the drivers side tunnel cover/carpet to reveal the 2x2 connector for the airbag computer more info http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/troubl...usp.html#steer

That would be the updated computer, then. I'll have to see if I have that. According to the local dealer, my V8 chassis number doesn't show up as being one of the cars needing the recall, so I assume it was never done, but I have my doubts. It looks like that recall involved nearly 55,000 cars made from 1988 through 1993, including the V8s from that era and I'm not sure why some V8s would have been included and not others, as I'd assume they all got the same module originally.
