Default Heater core needs replacing, Attention: Greg Kiernan...................

I need to replace my heater core on my 1995 90 Quattro. I saw your write up of you replacing
your heater core.
I am in the Portland, OR area & I would like to have someone to guide me when I tear out the dash
in the Spring to do the replacement.
Do you know anyone in this area?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

The 95 is a bit different then his old write up, just because of passenger airbag stuff. It isn't too hard though. If i was closer i'd be happy to help, i've done probably 10+ in 80s/90s/and cqs

Just did my heater core and even most important - THE FLAPS . Even if the heater core and the AC system is fine - you may still not have either one good enough.
I did it for 2 days.. A few hours after work, by myself. If I had someone to help - I would do it for a whole afternoon.
Good luck

What did you need to do with the flaps? My heater core is fine (both hoses very very hot), but the AC doesnt work when its hot and the heat doesnt work too well in the winter and a ton of insulation flies out of the vents
DO you need to remove the assembly that holds the flaps? Does the AC need to be drained to fix the flaps?

Check Dave's (hibyd_hatch) post. Everything is there. He pioneered this method.
