Default Windows, sunroof stopped working

Hello again,

Got another problem here. My power windows and sunroof stopped working but does work occasionally. I realized that as long as the sunroof button light comes on, everything works and if it doesn't, then it's S.O.L Does anyone know if this is a common problem and what really needs to be fixed?

Thanks much!

lets try english: those switches supposed to light up? hmmm....
well, check your fuses first, it sounds like you got a lose connection somewhere. i would take the panel where the switches are off first and just take a look at the wires and connectors

Normally the sunroof button illuminates in red, to indicate that it is working. If it doesn't, everythiing goes out. Is there a particular fuse I should look into, and where would that be?

Thanks

I've checked all of the fuses in the main box and they're all good. I've also checked the Aux fuse box under the the steering wheel. The diagram shows the relay for the window and sunroof is at "6" but the fuse box doesn't match the diagram and I couldn't pinpoint where "6" were. Does anyone knows the exact location of the relay?

Did you find a fix for the problem?

I'm looking at a 1994 90 quattro for sale, and I really like it, but the windows and sunroof stopped working just before the test drive. I'm trying to figure out if it's an easy fix, or should I walk away from the car.

Thanks

Relay number 276 under the kick panel, had this replaced this summer, same problem. It is that, for sure. Replace it.

The windows started working again. But I pulled relay anyway. Resoldered, cleaned and lubricated the connectors.

Here is the relay:

Sorry about the relay number, mine is number 287 here is a pic Can be Made in Germany or Austria.
From left to right, it is the third major relay in line under the kick panel. Hope this helps.
Regulates all five (4 windows and sunroof)
