I'm depressed. Does anyone else here share my paint pain?

I have a feeling i am right there with you.....
when i bought my car, it was similar to what you describe. but, there is no clearcoat on the top parts of the hood, roof, and trunk/spoiler. i mean NO clearcoat, the paint is actually rough, and after i wash it, there is no shine whatsoever after it dries. it is SO bad. but there is no way i can afford a paint job right now. but, i would suggest that you repaint; that way you get a really good paint job, that will last a very long time, so this won't happen again.

Once the sun & air pollution have damaged the clear coat, the only fix is repaint...
waxes, polishes and glazes can temporarily make it look sorta nice, but not really 'right.'

I am double depressed!!! I have the same problem with my pearl 95 A6 and black 93 90cs
It's horrible because the A6 is in perfect condition but the pearl is letting go. I to have spent many hours waxing trying to save the super expensive pearl paint but with no luck. Don't know what to do because having it repainted correctly will cost close to if not more than the car is worth.
Double depressed... I also have a black 93 90cs and the clear coat has totally let go. It's coming off in sheets on the hood and roof. This really sucks because once again a repaint on this car is going to be more than it's worth and with the way it looks now I'm not sure if I could get $50 for it.

wonder why DeLorean of all cars was chosen as the term for comparison??
Car was made exclusively of non-painted T-316 brush finished stainless steel that still looks today like it was made this morning. Sure the rest of the car was a POS but comparing old Audi paint to DeLorean skin in an effort to try and make a point about bad paint is like saying 12V's are slow compared to the speed of light.

Someone here said $10K for a good pearl repaint!! Yeesch.
I guess I could just have the tops resprayed - those are looking the worst. Still, the car has 165K and although it runs great and uses no oil, there are things like switches that don't light, climate control that freezes you out of the car in the summer, intermittant squeaks from the blower motor, visor mirror doors that won't stay open...little things like that.
