Need help!
I have a 91 quattro 90 20v, ran into a huge puddle and needless to say the engine stalled out, i was able to get the car out and started but when i started my car it started making a very loud ticking noise, like a baseball card in the spokes on a bicycle. I had the same problem on a different car so i went into the valve and checked the lifters, theyre okay. I think its either not getting spark or there is a fuel issue. Anyone else had this problem and would be able to give me some insight would be appreciated. I love this car and i refuse to junk it.

Some one had similar problem at other forum(I don't know where but not too long ago).
Do you having misfiring or ??????
Any way, you have to check the battery cable (-) and electric wiring connecter such a CTS etc. x19

Fixed the starting issue
So i fixed the starting issue, but ive been trying to diagnose the ticking issue and i think it may be a knock sensor, but i cannot for the life of me find where its at!

Problem not solved
So i replaced the knock sensor, checked the lifters and replaced the spark plugs, it is still ticking like crazy, im at a loss as to what else it could be! Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Im almost half tempted to take it up to a shop to figure out whats wrong with it.

I hate to sound like a barer of bad news but have you checked the block and/or the pullies? It could just be something simple as debris somewhere along the pullie or worse case scenario the block has cracked due to the rapid cooling (happened to a friends VW in a similar situation).
