New Member - Key Question
#11
Here is simple picture of my key and the description in the manual. YOu dont need any tools. Just simply press and slide it back. Inside you will see the batteryes. I have Energizer with model number 386/301 - so I guess this is what you need. 4 of them
by the way, on the picture you hide the plate , but I guess is Chicago reg. tag. Isn't it?

Batteries might not help, the PCB/IF just burns out after awhile.
I have 3 and only 1 works.
Unless they are new they should be programmed with the car.
One of mine you can see the IR light but it just fails to work.

That's sad to hear. I thought it was rather neat that Audi made it so simple to replace batteries in their remotes. Also, the button cell batteries that Audi chose to use are rather common and easy to find. Thank you gag4o for the very descriptive picture.

You are welcome. But I think you should check first if it works with new batteries. The remotes I think are strong. Or if doesnt work find some car in scrapyard and ask them if the have the key. Ive seen a lot of Audis in the yards with the keys still in. After that, the remote is programmable
good luck

It's not the key but the FOB thus if you find one in a yard the key portion which is built in would be useless.
When these were able to be purchased new the key was a blank that you had cut.
If you find one that works just cut the key off and use as a remote although it defeats the purpose of being able to open the doors and use the same key to start the car.
I looked into getting a new FOB years ago but the part number was long NLA from the dealer.
