Agreed. I also test drove two S3s, and my test drives weren't always gentle either. Fortunately, it now sounds like they can secure a different Daytona package car, so it should be resolved. But I won't relax until the car is sitting in my garage (with relatively few miles on it!).

The dealer I just bought mine from has two of the Daytona special edition cars in stock, and I seriously doubt they have many miles on them. I'm in Oregon though.

At least in the D.C. area, they seem to be going quickly -- on Friday there were 4 in the mid-Atlantic region, and now there are apparently two (including the 800 mile one). If the dealer does secure one after all, I'll be sure to check the mileage before I sign any documents!

If you are to take the car with 800 miles on it I would request an additional 1000 off the price. The dealer would have no trouble with that if you drove off the lot and wanted to return it...

$800 hard miles are fine, I wouldn't worry about it, but def get $1k off.

Break-in is not what it used to be.

Don't forget you still have the full warranty and it's just my opinion but I wouldn't worry about 800 miles honestly...

I think you will be fine. Give the car a good look over, make sure everything is "as new" and performs as it should. You are covered by the warranty and the car is a high performance car so it should be able to handle "test drives". Another thing about the current "automatic only" S3 is that you don't have to worry that the clutch was burned by someone who didn't know how to drive a stick.

Look at it this way... Some guys are taking delivery of virgins, or cars that only been tapped once by the service tech. The car with 800 miles on it has been whored out and tapped by dozens. That car is a *****. I'd pass

800 miles on test drives is too much!.
I would pass unless they are willing to sell it to you with a nice discount: $2K-3K

Default How far away was the dealer it came from?

mine had 200 miles on it...knowing what? I know now (in the shop with check engine light on) I almost wish I had bought it with more miles on it..then this problem would be hashed out before I got it.
