Default A3 rated more around 250+ HP?

Seen this article about the GTI which has the same engine. What do you think, the standard 2.0T have 250+ hp?

Dyno run hints VW GTI power might be significantly underrated

Doesn't seem possible. VW wouldn't make a mistake that bad and they would of COURSE brag about more horsepower if they had it. In-fact, if VW had said that car had 250 out of the box, I would have at least test driven one.

Yes, you (and the article) stated a standard 2.0 L GtI not a modified one.

The Germans are notorious for under rating power on their cars. It probably has something to do with trying not to scare off certain segments of the market but that's just speculation.

German law also dictates that if you specify a particular HP rating for an engine, EVERY engine must meet or exceed that number. There is no allowance for tolerance below that stated HP.

Was just reading about a GTI making 224 stock power (same 2.0T engine)...throw in transmission loss, ya we are def making more than at least 230+ at the crank.

Factor in A3's with drive select - dynamic mode and the car is probably achieving that HP more often than not.

Do you not understand dynamic mode? It doesn't change the hp of the engine. It changes throttle response.
