"The expansion was in part triggered by the Dec. 22 death of a man driving a Ford Ranger pickup. A lawyer representing the man’s family says “there is no doubt airbag shrap (shrapnel) metal killed my client, as this has been confirmed by death certificate and autopsy report.”
The death is the 10th worldwide linked to Takata airbags and the first in a vehicle not produced by Honda."

holy crap these airbags are killing people. when are they going to let us know?

Thanks Dennis, this is pretty serious.

Wondered if the dealerships have a TSB yet, so I called. Service person didn't know and insisted on a VIN check. My 2015 S3 cleared, but I will recheck in a week or so, maybe go over and pin someone down for an answer.

Just got an email from NHTSA on Feb 5th informing me that there is a recall on Seat-Mounted Air Bag Inflators and they may rupture.

Input your Vin and see if your part of the recall. https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/

The site is good for checking, but I don't think its 100% accurate as it states I have no recalls, but I did have the fuel pump one, which it doesn't show.

My '15 A3 Cabrio was clean on that site, but will keep an eye on this issue just in case. Thanks.

I'm clean. Stopped by my dealer for a MIL and my 5k. Mentioned the airbag recall and they also mentioned I was Okay.

I think we all need to keep the airbag issue in mind. The news article could have an error regarding the years. But it should be on the NHTSA website shortly.
