Audi Connect MMI on a used 2015 A3 thru T-mobile
I just bought a previously owned A3 Prestige so I was not eligible for the free 6 month trial new owners get. I already have T-mobile on a family plan so I added a data only line for $10/month. That comes with 2GB LTE and throttled down after that. I simply told T-mobile it was for an ipad and they set me up. I inserted the regular, large size SIM into the glove box MMI box slot and everything now works. I had to select something in the setup - I chose the first option "mTm", or something like that within the Audi Connect menu. I then went to myaudi.com, set up my account with my car, selected "audi connect services", and was then brought to a window where I could link my vehicle with Audi with a code that I enter within the MMI menu. Anyway, I thought this is interesting to those thrown back by the high cost of the Audi service through ATT.

except you can do the same thing with lte service using audi connect and att by adding the car to your plan. my total cost is just over 11 dollars per month and its far better than that broke mobile 2g crap.

I get T-mobile LTE speeds, not 2g. I'm not sure what you mean by adding audi connect as that is what I've done. I've only sidestepped the purchase of ATT through the dealership.

Audi has finally created a $10 1GB Audi Connect plan that doesn't require a AT&T carrier.
I signed up.
But I just discovered that my Existing T-Mobile plan says that "You are eligible to add 11 voice and 5 tablet, hotspot, or wearable lines to your account."
So you know where I'm going next.
Looks like I chose what type I'm adding all on their website.

Not really. Only Verizon's LTE network is GSM based. They don't have GSM based 2G and 3G fallback networks if you drive in an area with no LTE coverage, so if you use a Verizon SIM you would only have service in areas where you have LTE coverage, but if you drive outside those areas you'll have no service at all, where as with AT&T and T-Mobile, the MMI can fall back to 3G and worst case 2G.
