Default Cleaning WeatherTech Mats

With the Chicago weather the interior mats get salty and dirty like no other. I've had oem rubber mats for my RSX and found using a tire cleaner to clean those mats best. Can you tell me if you have weather tech mats which my gf has in her a3 what you use to clean those? They're made of plastic rather than rubber and has the laser cut ones. Also, I would also like a cleaner that doesn't make them slippery. I've taken my car to professional car washes and although I like the shine I do not know what they use that makes them slippery for weeks. I really want to avoid the slippery clean. Any cleaning advice would be appreciated!

I usually wash my car's rubber mats using the bucket of water with the car shampoo. My WeatherTech mats will be coming in on Monday so I have no experience cleaning them. However, I assume that regular dish soap and water would do fine especially if there is a bit of grease on it.

On all the Weather Tech I've had over the years, just the left over car wash water and a scrub brush has always cleaned them right up.

In the winter I pull them out and pressure wash them in the wash bay, then put them in my trunk until I get home to dry with a towel.

Summer I use my wheel mit with the remaining bucket water / soap.

Don't use anything on them other than soap. Any other cleaner (tire cleaner, armor all, etc.) will usually leave a residue that makes them super slippery and dangerous. A lot of times, you don't even need soap. Just hot water and a scrub brush.

I do one of two things:

1. If I am taking my car to a do it yourself car wash, I will hang the mats on the wall and spray them off.

2. If I want to do it at home, I use our mud room sink (since it is large) and run hot water while scrubbing them with a scrub brush. Only takes a few minutes and then they are good as new.

I have used weathertech mats in all our cars for years. They are very easy to clean and last forever.

Thanks for the update! I ordered the weathertech cleaner and protectant and will try that since you have 30 day trial for it. Has anyone ever used it before?

Haven't tried it, but interested to see how it is. Please post up your thoughts on it once you have had a chance to try it out.

They clean pretty easy unless they get soiled with clay. Then for me only a pressure washer removes the clay stain.
