Default Kia will update older cars to support Android Auto and Carplay- why can't Audi?

Kia just released a statement saying that they will update cars as far back as MY2014 to support Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Meanwhile, our 2016 S3s are stuck without it. I'm not THAT upset, I knew the feature was not there when I bought the car, but it would be nice to get a perk like this from a luxury car maker when many less expensive cars are getting it.

Considering that the 2017 A3/S3 is getting this standard (or with premium+ trim?) does anyone know how realistic it would be to retrofit a 2017 screen unit into a 2016?

Of course they could do it as the MMI contains internal cards that can be swapped out an upgraded. Now, I don't really think that Audi gives a crap about bringing new features to current owners so I think we're screwed. I hope I'm proven wrong, but by seeing how long it's taking them to fix the java login credential check for the map download, I think they just don't care.
Before I bought my 15 A3, I did look at Kia and Hyundai knowing that they were getting carplay and android auto, but did not want to be a part of their dealer experience in my area. The local Audi dealers are pretty good around here and at least pretend to like me when I'm in there.
