So in both the Road & Track article and the Slash Gear article they talk about having it equipped on the cars they tested. I however can't find anything on how to make it work on USA spec cars. While its not something I would use every day or even every month. I would like to know if it is there. At some point I am going to go to the drag strip, and right now i'm getting a 0-60 of 6.2 at best.

Assuming we have it, use the following to enable.

1. Switch Drive Select to Dynamic.

2. Hold down ESC button to shut off.

3. Fully depress brake

4. Fully depress throttle.

5. Tach will hover @ 4k, boost gauge will illuminate.

Let go of brake and hold on!

Not sure of the origin. And this is an A3.

Default How are you measuring time to 60?

The A3 can do it at 5.7 sec. How are you measuring your 0-60 time?

Ok what am I doing wrong? I followed this list and when I hit the gas the engine revs to about 2k then the whole car drops and stutters like its engaged. I have tried this before, I don't want to look like an idiot even on the internet. But I guess i'm just doing something wrong.

Honestly with the lap timer, I understand its very far from accurate. But I was consistently getting 6.3-6.4 the 5 times I tried. I said 6.2 because I figured it was more accurate. Turbo lag is a bitch from a stop without the launch control

The exact procedure is spelled out in the owner's manual. I found it this weekend -- I haven't tried it yet (I'm still in the break-in period), but I think the transmission has to be in sport or manual mode in addition to the steps above. But check the manual to be sure.

Putting the car in dynamic mode via drive select automatically puts the transmission into sport mode. Source: my a3 with sport package does that.

This is true. One caveat that might be responsible for the OP's issue above is that I read it doesn't keep you in S if you shut off the car in Dynamic. Starting the car in Dynamic leaves the transmission in D, while honoring all the other settings as Dynamic. You either need to reselect Dynamic, or use the shifter to switch into S.

Is your transmission in S? For launch control, it doesn't actually matter whether you are in Dynamic or not. What matters is that the transmission is in S.
